After a violent experience it can be hard to know where to turn or what to do.
We’re here to support your healing journey.
The Chester Community Coalition started when volunteers from Heeding God’s Call to End Gun Violence noticed the heavy burden of grief carried by Chester residents impacted by gun violence at the t-shirt demonstrations they organized. Sr. Jean Rupertus, of The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia learned of a grant from Catholic Health Initiatives (now CommonSpirit Health) focused on violence prevention.
With a commitment to client-centered care and community-informed decision making, Chester Community Coalition continues to provide trauma-informed therapy, case management, and training services through a diverse, culturally competent, well-trained, and dedicated team.

Our Programs
Healing & Strength
While it is natural for our bodies to respond to danger by releasing chemicals that get us ready to fight, take flight, or freeze– trauma and grief can set off feelings of fear, anger and anxiety that are overwhelming in the day to day.
In this program, you will have space to process your grief and learn skills to ground yourself and your children. Groups for 12 weeks in the evening and we offer door-to-door transportation and dinner.
Survivor Support
Learn how to ground yourself from stress, manage trauma reactions and reminders, and practice relaxation techniques and self-care during our 10-week trauma-informed group counseling sessions.
These groups are for survivors who have been injured through violence or have witnessed violence directly, as well as for caregivers supporting someone permanently or temporarily injured through violence. Transportation and dinner are provided.
Individual Support
Rebuild and reintegrate healthy ways to navigate your world. Identify current patterns and behaviors that contribute to your experience. Navigate barriers and obstacles so you can achieve personal growth and satisfaction.
Individual sessions are one-on-one, and last for approximately 45 to 50 minutes. Typically after 18-20 sessions, we’ll talk about the progress that is being made and the continued need for support.
Youth Prevention Programs
Our groups are tailored to meet the needs of the organization and we work with our partners to ensure informed consent, clear understanding of the process, and what can reasonably be expected from participation.
Groups run for 6-10 weeks at a time. Topics run the gamut from grief support and trauma education, to coping skills and planning for the future. Topics are determined in partnership with the organization and the youth being served.
Case Management
We provide trauma-informed case management services. With the support of a trained and caring staff, you will set your own goals and get help.
